TAATM #95: Tess vs. Cat People

Paul and Erin review two recent Blu-Ray reissues starring the late-’70s/early-’80s sex symbol Nastassja Kinski. First, TESS: Roman Polanski's 1979 film version of Thomas Hardy's novel about a simple farmgirl whose discovery that she is distantly related to an old noble family sets the stage for a lifetime of disappointment and misery; then, CAT PEOPLE, Paul Schrader's 1982 remake of Val Lewton's horror classic, starring Kinski as a woman whose discovery that she is descended from an ancient race of incestuous were-panthers sets the stage for violence and erotic torture.

Plus: our quick takes on THE WIND RISES, RHYMES FOR YOUNG GHOULS (and other films in the "Canada's Top Ten" touring package), THE PRICE OF GOLD, and WE ARE THE BEST!
